Affordable Employer Branding Ideas for Organisations of Any Size
MAY 8, 2026
Employer branding is not just for large organisations with big budgets. Here are practical, low-cost ideas that work at any scale.
What employer branding actually is
Employer branding is how your organisation is perceived as a place to work, by current employees, former employees, and people who have never worked there. It is shaped by everything from your careers page to your Glassdoor reviews to what your employees say at dinner. Unlike consumer branding, employer branding is largely built on authenticity: candidates research you thoroughly before applying, and any gap between your claimed and actual culture will surface in short order. The goal is not to manufacture an image but to understand and communicate your genuine strengths.
Low-cost ideas: your own employees
Measuring employer brand effectiveness
Track application volume, offer acceptance rate, and time-to-hire over 12-month periods to see whether brand investment is producing results. Monitor Glassdoor and Indeed ratings monthly and compare them to application volume: there is typically a direct correlation between rating improvement and application rate. Run a short candidate survey at offer stage asking how candidates heard about the role and what influenced their decision to apply. This tells you which brand channels are actually working.
