Peer Review
Feedback on an employee's performance gathered from their colleagues.
Peer review is a feedback method in which an employee's colleagues contribute their perspective on that person's work, collaboration and behaviours. It adds viewpoints that a line manager, who does not see everything, may miss.
Peer input is often gathered as part of a wider 360-degree feedback process, alongside self-assessment and manager and, sometimes, direct-report views. It is particularly valuable in team-based or matrixed work where peers are best placed to judge day-to-day contribution.
For peer review to be useful, feedback should be specific, constructive and given in a climate of trust. Clear guidance and, where appropriate, anonymity help ensure honesty without encouraging unfairness.
