Outplacement
Support provided to departing employees to help them find new roles.
Outplacement is support that an employer provides to employees who are leaving, usually through redundancy, to help them transition to new employment. It typically includes career coaching, CV and interview preparation, and job-search assistance.
Offering outplacement reflects a duty of care towards departing staff and helps preserve the goodwill and reputation of the organisation among those who remain and in the wider labour market.
Beyond compassion, outplacement can reduce the risk of disputes during a difficult process and reassure remaining employees that people are treated with dignity. It is a common feature of well-managed redundancy programmes.
