Exit Management (Offboarding)
The structured process of managing an employee's departure from an organisation.
Exit management, or offboarding, is the process of handling an employee's departure smoothly and professionally โ covering notice, handover, return of equipment, revoking access, final pay and the exit interview.
A well-run exit protects the organisation from operational, security and data-protection risks, and it preserves goodwill, leaving departing staff as potential advocates or returners.
Standardised offboarding checklists, ideally within an HRIS, ensure nothing is missed and that knowledge is captured before the person leaves.
