Culture Fit
How well a candidate's values and working style align with an organisation's culture and norms.
Culture fit describes the alignment between a person's values, behaviours and expectations and those of the organisation they are joining. It can influence how quickly someone settles in and thrives.
The concept is useful but carries risk. Used carelessly, 'fit' can become a proxy for hiring people who are similar to the existing team, entrenching bias and undermining diversity.
Many employers now prefer 'culture add' โ asking what fresh perspective a candidate brings โ assessed against clear values rather than vague instinct.
