Where can you migrate data from?
We migrate from spreadsheets, legacy HR systems or paper records, however your data is currently held. Our specialists handle the technical detail of extraction so your HR team is not left wrestling with exports.
What does your migration process involve?
We extract your data, agree a source data freeze, cleanse and de-duplicate it, map fields to the BambooHR data model with validation rules, validate and reconcile against source, then import to a sandbox and test before a controlled load to live.
How do you support data-protection requirements during migration?
We agree access, transfer, retention and reconciliation controls with you and process personal data under the applicable contract and documented instructions. Your organisation remains responsible for determining its legal obligations and confirming any data-residency requirements.
How do you make sure the data is accurate?
We run quality checks and reconcile the imported data against source to prove accuracy, producing full validation and reconciliation reporting. Nothing is loaded to live until it has been validated and tested in a sandbox.
What is a data freeze and why do you use one?
A data freeze is an agreed window during which changes to the source systems are paused so records do not drift while migration is underway. It ensures what we validate is exactly what goes live, avoiding mismatches during cutover.
Who is responsible for data quality, you or us?
It is a partnership. Our specialists do the extraction, mapping, validation and reconciliation, while your team confirms decisions on cleansing and standards. We guide the process so the demand on your HR team stays manageable.
How long does data migration take?
Timing depends on data volume, the number of source systems and how much cleansing is needed. For a single, reasonably clean source it is a matter of days within the wider project, whereas multiple messy sources take longer to prepare and reconcile.
How does migration fit into the overall project?
Migration sits within the data migration stage and depends on the data model defined during solution design. Validated data is loaded ahead of go-live so the platform is trusted from day one, ready for training and launch.
What historical data can be brought across?
We agree with you what to migrate, which typically includes current employee records, key historical data and relevant documents. We advise on what is worth bringing across so the new platform stays clean rather than carrying forward clutter.
What happens if we find an error after go-live?
The reconciliation reporting means most issues are caught before launch, but if anything is found afterwards our team investigates and corrects it as part of hypercare. Because we retain the mapping and validation records, corrections are quick and traceable.
