Question 1

Is BambooHR actually anonymous?

Accepted Answer

Some BambooHR surveys can be configured as anonymous, but BambooHR is not an anonymous HR system. Employee records, approvals and other operational activity are associated with authorised users. Survey anonymity depends on the specific experience, settings and response thresholds; confirm the current configuration with BambooHR before promising anonymity to employees.

Question 2

Is BambooHR a real company?

Accepted Answer

Yes. BambooHR is a real HR software company that provides a cloud-based human resources platform. BambooHR is headquartered in Lindon, Utah, United States, and sells its own software directly. Grouper is an authorised partner that helps customers plan, implement and support the platform; Grouper does not own BambooHR.

Question 3

What companies use BambooHR?

Accepted Answer

BambooHR is designed primarily for small and medium-sized organisations across many industries. BambooHR publishes customer stories and customer counts, but there is no complete public customer directory. Treat third-party lists and logos as examples, not proof that every named organisation currently uses every BambooHR product.

Question 4

Who owns BambooHR?

Accepted Answer

BambooHR is a privately held company; its ownership is not the same as Grouper’s partner relationship. Public company announcements and filings should be used for any current ownership or investment question. Grouper is an independent authorised BambooHR partner and does not own, control or represent the company’s corporate ownership.

Question 5

How expensive is BambooHR?

Accepted Answer

There is no single universal BambooHR price: the total depends on employee count, selected products, country and commercial terms. Ask for a current quote that separates BambooHR subscription costs from implementation, migration, integrations, training and ongoing partner support. For Ireland and the eurozone, request a EUR quote; for the UK, request GBP. Grouper can scope local delivery, but it does not set BambooHR’s licence price.

Question 6

Is BambooHR free to use?

Accepted Answer

BambooHR is not a permanently free HRIS for business use. BambooHR may offer a demo or time-limited trial depending on the current commercial offer. A trial is not the same as a free production plan, and paid modules, employee counts and implementation services should be confirmed in writing.

Question 7

What is the cheapest HR software?

Accepted Answer

The cheapest HR software is the option that meets your compliance and workflow needs without creating expensive manual work or reimplementation later. Compare total cost of ownership: subscription, payroll or integration gaps, migration, training, support and the time your team spends maintaining data. Low-cost tools may suit a simple single-country team; growing or multi-country organisations should test reporting, permissions, audit trails and local payroll connections.

Question 8

What is similar to BambooHR?

Accepted Answer

Similar HR platforms include HiBob, Personio, Rippling, Sage HR, Zoho People, Factorial and UKG, although their strengths and regional coverage differ. Shortlist by use case rather than brand: core HR depth, employee experience, payroll approach, integrations, international employment and implementation support. See our comparison guides for structured questions to take to each supplier.

Question 9

What is BambooHR used for?

Accepted Answer

BambooHR is used to manage core people data and HR processes such as employee records, time off, onboarding, reporting, performance and selected employee-experience workflows. The available products and features vary by plan and location. BambooHR is the software provider; Grouper adds local discovery, configuration, data migration, integrations, training, go-live support and ongoing advisory services.

Question 10

Is BambooHR legitimate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. BambooHR is a legitimate cloud HR platform and an established HR software company. As with any SaaS purchase, verify the contract entity, data-processing terms, security documentation, service scope and support route. Grouper can help European buyers evaluate the platform and configure it responsibly, but product warranties and commercial terms come from BambooHR.

Question 11

How much is BambooHR per month?

Accepted Answer

BambooHR’s monthly cost is quote-based for many buyers and is not safely represented by one global figure. A reliable monthly estimate needs your employee count, billing cadence, products, country and any implementation or integration work. Request the quote in EUR for Ireland/eurozone organisations or GBP for UK organisations; other countries should use a locally confirmed currency rather than an unverified conversion.

Question 12

Is BambooHR an HRIS system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. BambooHR is an HRIS: a human resources information system that stores people data and supports connected HR processes. It is commonly used as a central employee record and workflow system, with reporting, self-service and additional modules depending on the customer’s plan and region. An HRIS does not automatically replace local payroll, legal advice or every specialist HR tool.

Question 13

What big companies use BambooHR?

Accepted Answer

BambooHR is most strongly associated with small and medium-sized businesses, and a public list of all large-company customers is not available. Do not infer current customer status from an unverified logo or review site. A better fit assessment looks at headcount, countries, approvals, integrations, data governance and the service model your HR team needs.

Question 14

What are the top five HRIS systems?

Accepted Answer

There is no objective top five for every organisation. BambooHR, Workday, UKG, Personio and HiBob are five widely considered HRIS options, but suitability depends on size, region and use case. Other credible shortlists may include Rippling, SAP SuccessFactors, ADP or specialist local providers. Compare verified capabilities and current regional availability rather than relying on a popularity ranking.

Question 15

Who are BambooHR’s main competitors?

Accepted Answer

Common competitors include Personio, HiBob, Rippling, UKG, Workday, Sage HR, Factorial and Zoho People. They are not interchangeable: some prioritise enterprise HCM, some international employment or IT automation, and some simpler HR administration. Grouper can help map your requirements before you decide whether BambooHR is the right fit.

Question 16

Is BambooHR a payroll system?

Accepted Answer

BambooHR is primarily an HRIS, not a universal payroll system for every country. BambooHR has payroll offerings in selected markets and also connects with payroll providers through integrations. In Ireland, the UK, Europe, MEA, Canada and the US, confirm the exact employing countries, statutory coverage, provider responsibility and supported integration before buying. Grouper, BambooHR’s Global Partner for Europe, Ireland and the UK, delivers payroll integration and implementation guidance, not payroll processing by default.

Question 17

Does BambooHR use AI?

Accepted Answer

Yes. BambooHR offers AI-powered features, including Ask BambooHR, alongside its core HR tools. AI availability, permissions, connected data and feature behaviour can change by plan, region and release. Treat AI as an assistant for approved HR workflows, not a replacement for human review, employment-law advice or careful data governance. Grouper can help European teams assess, configure and adopt BambooHR’s AI capabilities responsibly.

Question 18

Is BambooHR down?

Accepted Answer

BambooHR service availability can change in real time, so check BambooHR’s official status page for current incidents. If the status page is clear, the issue may be account access, a browser or network problem, permissions, an integration or a regional configuration. Grouper’s Global Partner team for Europe, Ireland and the UK can help customers triage implementation, integration and support issues; we cannot guarantee or independently report live BambooHR uptime from this static guide.

Question 19

What is the most popular HR software?

Accepted Answer

Popularity depends on the market and definition used, so there is no reliable single global winner. Review volume, search interest and customer count measure different things and change over time. Choose based on fit, security, adoption, reporting, integrations, support and total cost—not an unsupported popularity claim.

Question 20

Does BambooHR track you?

Accepted Answer

BambooHR processes activity and people data needed to provide the service, but that is different from secretly tracking employees. What is collected and visible depends on the account configuration, permissions, features and applicable privacy notices. Employers remain responsible for lawful, transparent use of employee data; review BambooHR’s current privacy and security documentation and configure access carefully.

Question 21

Where is BambooHR based?

Accepted Answer

BambooHR is based in Lindon, Utah, in the United States. It serves customers internationally, while availability and compliance requirements vary by country. Grouper provides European implementation and local delivery support from Ireland and the UK.

Question 22

Is BambooHR a good company?

Accepted Answer

BambooHR is a well-established HR software company, and it can be a good vendor for organisations that need approachable cloud HR software. “Good” depends on what you are buying: assess product fit, support, security, integrations, local payroll coverage, pricing and implementation effort rather than relying on reputation alone. Grouper is BambooHR’s Global Partner for Europe, Ireland and the UK, helping buyers evaluate fit and get more value from the platform.

Question 23

Does BambooHR pay well?

Accepted Answer

Compensation is role-, level-, location- and experience-dependent, so a general claim that BambooHR pays well would be unreliable. Use current job postings and reputable, up-to-date compensation sources for a specific role. Employee review sites are self-reported and may be incomplete; they should not be presented as verified company-wide pay data.

Question 24

Is BambooHR any good?

Accepted Answer

BambooHR can be a strong HRIS choice for organisations that value approachable core HR, self-service and a broad partner ecosystem. It is not automatically right for every business. Test local payroll coverage, reporting, permissions, integrations, implementation effort and support expectations. Grouper helps buyers assess fit, configure the platform, migrate clean data, train teams and support adoption.
