The Centre for Family Medicine (CFM) is a community health organisation in Kitchener, Ontario, providing primary care services to a large patient population through a team of family physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and administrative staff. As an academic family health team, CFM also supports medical education and research, adding further complexity to its people management requirements. With staff spread across four practice locations and a range of employment arrangements, consistent HR administration was a persistent challenge.

Healthcare organisations face particularly stringent compliance requirements in relation to staff qualifications, credential verification, and continuing education. At CFM, managing this documentation had become increasingly burdensome as the organisation grew. The HR team's confidence in the completeness and accuracy of the compliance records increased significantly, and the risk of an undetected lapse in a clinician's required qualifications was substantially reduced.

Employees responded positively to having self-service access to their own HR information. Clinical staff who previously had to contact HR to confirm their annual leave balances or retrieve their employment contracts could now access this information directly through the BambooHR portal. The reduction in routine enquiries freed the HR team's time for the more complex and sensitive conversations that required human judgement and empathy.
